Agile Architecture

Agile Ways

The Agile Ways track will give you 12 hardcore seminars over two days with world renowned experts guiding you through a wide range of agile aspects in development projects. We also LEANed a bit over to hear from the mother of all AGILE and if that's not enough there are 25 more seminaries in the conference tagged with Agile.

Hear the discussions. Get your gray matter going. There are no rights or wrongs to learning, take every chance to interact with the speakers and share your experience...

Architecture

In the mid-70s, the now famous architect Christopher Alexander published three books. In "The Oregon Experiment" he doesn't talk about cement, bricks, or differential equations. He talks about people, environment, living in a society, bikes and shrubs, senior communities, different cultures, etc. He talks about the solution and the users of it, not the technical details. He paints a picture of a vision. This is exactly what a good architect should do. The old masters Dijkstra and Parnas said that the structure of a software system matters and getting the structure right is critical. So come to the architecture track to get your structure right for a fast paced and quickly changing reality delivered by today's masters.

Aspects Of Leadership

Leadership is a fine balance between drive and the capability to efficiently and humanely manage people. The speakers invited to speak on this track have extensive experience of leadership in many different organizations and lines of business. You will learn to adjust your leadership style to reflect the circumstances you face, how to use coaching to improve collaboration in your projects and gain insight into the causes of destructive leadership behaviors.

Effective Languages

An effective programming language is one that allows you to express and solve problems better, faster and with more elegance. The Effective Languages track will present six languages that allow you to be effective in very different ways, and for different classes of problems

In The Cloud

The development industry moves to the clouds! Different cloud offerings from a few big companies compete for attention. A new type of application is born. One thing is certain; Cloud development and cloud hosting are hugely important trends today. Our Cloud track will bring you the latest news from the cloud enablers as well as a good forecast of the cloudiness in development land.

Java

Welcome to this years Java track. Here you will find something for every Java-flavor. Cutting edge technology that will show you the future of Java as well as introductions and deep dives into established technologies. Should you try out a new trend, or stick with the old and safe? Decide for yourself, but make sure you have the knowledge to take the right decision.

Java efficiency Java is changing. We are moving away from Java as a sacred monolith and getting familiar with efficient, fast moving development. Find out what to use, and how to use it. Lean to increase your productivity and have more fun at work.

At Øredev 2009 there will be plenty of Java-centric seminars, workshops and lightning talks. There is something for every flavor. Join us at the Java track. Be inspired, become smarter and become more efficient.

Lightning Talks & Interviews

Every session sonsists of 2 or 3 short sessions.

Meanwhile

The world of software is becoming increasingly parallel. This change is visible both in the small scale (more CPUs per machine, more cores per CPU and more threads per core) and in the large scale (large elastic clouds of many virtualized machines). But developing parallel systems is hard! The Meanwhile track covers current and emerging programming models for the multi-core and cloud era.

Mobile 2.0

In a few years the number of Internet users will double to three billion users, most of these new Internet users will never have seen a computer. Today’s developers need to prepare for the move from desktop computers and Web 2.0 to tomorrow’s Mobile 2.0.

PM In Practice

Project Management is about identifying and building effective relationships with the key people and groups on which project success depends. Project Managers focus on two sets of responsibilities; managing the team and ensuring tangible project deliverables and business value. Listen to a Case Study that describes and explores the learnings of old truths, combined with an agile approach, or to the true story of how large organizations have implemented Scrum and agile methods.

Test

The test track will feature some of the most interesting thinkers within test from all over the world, with special focus on issues that could very well be the future of testing. These include automating higher-level testing, driving development through testing, and especially fostering the highly skilled and creative tester.

The communication and collaboration across disciplines in a project, with the tester as an information hub, is often the key to successfully releasing high quality products to a more demanding and discerning market. This is why parts of the track are related to communication as well.

It doesn't matter if you are a tester, a test leader or a developer interested in testing – the test track has something for everyone.

User Experience

A user doesn’t care about what cool technology, elegant architecture, or effective language are used. For them it's how effective, inspiring and captive the application and gadgets are.

Today we have a number of new technology platforms and interaction patterns; multitouch and gesture interaction, iPhone and Android, rich web applications and filthy rich client application. With all these possibilities, developers and designers have a demanding and delicate task using this power to simplify, enhance and enrich the user’s experience.

Web Development

Ajax opened up completely new possibilities for the web, the javascript frameworks brought us the tools to realize them and now web technology is everywhere: Cloud computing brings our most used applications to the web while HTML5, AIR, Gears and other techniques bring web apps to our desktops. Smartphones are not just able to display full webpages with ease, they also allow us to build applications with all the functionality of their nativly built counterparts. The home electronics makers are preparing to put the web in our TV sets while media publishers are getting ready to give us the next generation musical albums, movies, TV series, magazines and books powered by the pillars of Web Technology: HTML, CSS and Javascript. And finally, Web Development comes to Øredev. During two days (November 4th and 5th) some of the most prolific authorities on everything Web will share their knowledge with you at Øredev.

.NET

This year’s Øredev will definitely improve your efficiency working with the .NET platform. By revisiting current technology such as WCF, LINQ, ASP.NET and WPF with new insights and experience will benefit your current projects. This combined with sessions on the upcoming .NET framework 4 and Visual Studio 2010, spanning from desktop clients to cloud computing, will prepare you for a more efficient today and tomorrow.

The .NET track will feature well known speakers from both the Microsoft and non-Microsoft communities as well as the .NET blogosphere. With such great contributors as Scott Hansleman, Julie Lerman, Juval Löwy, Oren Eini among others will truly make Øredev a source of inspiration. There will plenty of opportunities for the .NET developer to share knowledge with speakers and attendees in chalk talks, lightning talks, BoF’s, workshops and tutorials throughout the conference.
