In Stockholm, use the Stockholm public transport (SL)

In order to travel with the Stockholm public transport service you will of course need to purchase appropriate ticketing.

You are not able to purchase a ticket onboard the buses.

Tickets are sold via agents (such as 7-11 and Pressbyrån), at the SL Center and at commuter train stations. Some tickets can also be bought at the Metro barriers. There are also ticket machines in a number of other locations. You can even buy a one-hour ticket which is sent as a text message to your mobile phone.

Show your ticket or your mobile to the bus driver or ticket inspector and if you have a card with a magnetic strip you can use the automatic barriers in the Metro and at the commuter train stations.

It is always cheaper to buy prepaid tickets and the longer the period of validity of the ticket, the cheaper it will be. If you are just visiting temporarily there are travelcards for 1, 3 or 7 days.
